Post #43 Updates & an afternoon with Carrie Fisher
It's been over a month since the last post so here it goes. Haven't had much time to play these good old RPG's but I do have some updates for the RPG directory...1st off, we have "Realm of Arkania - Blade of Destiny". Somewhat similar to the Eye of the Beholder series but a bit more detailed in the character development area. Its a game by Sirtech, the makers of the Wizardry series. Blade of Destiny and its sequels have spurred a cult following and many a good recommendations + reviews. Though I have not heard of the game until recently, it apparently was a very popular game in Europe.
Another addition to the RPG directory is "Times of Lore". A top down RPG similar to the Magic Candle series. I've uploaded the DOS version for this, though the Amiga version has the better graphics. Will be working on getting that going also. Courtesy of Elik's Instant Wolf, I have recently been introduced to a superb sci-fi space adventure game called "Strange Adventures in Infinite Space" which has been taking up some of my valuable time at the moment. There's just something spectacular about traveling around in space, blasting up enemy ships and exploring the final frontier and encountering strange alien life forms a la the cantina from Star Wars. I just might have to make a space somewhere on my site for this classic gem of a game, though not an rpg but what the heck it's surely worth a mention at the icestorm9999. In other news...tommorrow at 2:00, I'm going to see Carrie Fisher. Yep, you heard me right. Ms. Princess Leia herself. What sci-fi fan could pass this oportunity up? Definitely not me. My tickets are already purchased and are waiting for me at the ticket booth for pickup. She has her own comedic+ reflectionary show called "Wishful Drinking" and is at the Huntington Theatre. I hope they allow cameras in there. Might even try to get her autograph. ;o) 2008-10-26 03:53:50 GMTComments: 0 |Permanent Link
Post #42 The icestorm9999 has reached 9999 views :o)
Today I went to do a bit of updating and noticed that the icestorm9999 site now has 9999 views. Woohoo! OK. that's it. The site has served its purpose. Time to take it offline..................joking. lol. Actually it would have hit 9999 earlier but the view count had reset when I made the intro page since it made more sense to put it there. Anyways, hoping for many more views in the months to come. -See ya later

post #40: Monster of the Day
Today, 7/31/2008 a new feature of the icestorm9999 site has been born. The Monster of the Day! The monster can be from any crpg, but I will start off with animated images of monsters from Bard's Tale III (Apple IIe version) since that is the game I am currently playing. I will record animated screenshots from the games and post a new monster every day so there is something new to be seen. Eventually I will create a gallery for all the images. Hopefully someday I will have the largest collection of animated images of classic crpg's!
We will start off the Monster of the Day series with the "Viper" from Bard's Tale III. 2008-08-01 01:01:24 GMTComments: 0 |Permanent Link
Post #39 Bard's Tale III
I have the games on disc for DOS, but I originally played them on an Apple IIe computer. My first experiences with a party and traveling below ground into dungeons where I found monsters galore and equally important artifacts, items, musical instruments and weapons to descend further into the depths of the undergrounds searching for clues to answer the riddles of the ancient magic mouths. A great and classic trilogy that no one has been able to quite match or live up to its expectations. Of course I'm talking about the Bard's Tale Trilogy. I recently found a factory sealed Bard's Tale III (Apple II+, IIe, IIc, IIGS) version on Ebay and I won it. Woohoo!! I'm thinking I might frame it and put it up on my wall for display. I can't think of a better game to frame than this one. An amazing classic dungeon crawl. A CRPG at its best.
